Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is a type of behavior therapy that focuses on modifying behaviors through the use of stimuli, such as prompts, modeling, and positive reinforcements.
ABA was originally developed in the 1960s by Dr. Ole Ivar Lovaas, a Norwegian-American clinical psychologist and professor. Lovaas devoted his life to the study of ASD and finding ways to improve the quality of life for people with autism, as well as for their families. ABA therapy was born as a behavior intervention therapy for people with autism.
